Partnership Class (Saturday)

Each fall and each spring we do what we call partnership class, which is a two-hour class focusing on who we are and what we do, as well as what we believe church membership is all about. These two hours are broken down into two consecutive Sunday mornings from 11:00-12:00, or you can attend on a Saturday morning from 9:30-11:30am and knock out both hours. Should you decide to attend one of these classes, our elders will contact you to set up an informal time to get to know you in what we call an elder interview. At the end of this process, you are of course under no obligation to join, but all who do desire to join must attend the class and take part in an interview.

Partner Meeting

Calling all church partners! On this Sunday, October 29, we'll have a partner meeting after each service in the Living Room. We ask that all our church partners who are able to attend would come and hear about the health of our church and a few areas we will focused on in the coming months. It's a great way to find out how to pray for the church as a whole and hear a report from our elders on how we've been doing.

Immediately following both the 9:30am service and the 11am service.

Reformation Sunday - 500th Anniversary

Reformation Sunday - 500th Anniversary

On October 31, 1517, a German monk challenged the Roman Catholic Church and ignited a reformation of what it meant to be "Christian." Martin Luther's claims - that it is by faith alone, not works, that Jesus saves us - may seem obvious today, but at the time, it was a radical and dangerous idea in the Roman Catholic world. The result? A return to Jesus' life giving message, a Bible available to people in every language, the toppling of idols, and millions of people who know the freedom of the Gospel.

On October 29, 2017, we'll begin our new series, "We Protest," as we reflect on half a millennium of protestant Christianity at the 500th anniversary of the reformation.

Operation Christmas Child - Box Pick-Up

OCCkids.jpg

Operation Christmas Child, a ministry that we participate in every year, provides impoverished children around the world with toys, hygiene items, and Bible books through shoeboxes filled by thousands of churches. It's a fun way for our families here in East Tennessee to participate in giving to others in need.

The process is easy! Simply pick up a shoebox in AKids lobby on October 22, choose a boy or girl, choose an age range, and go out and buy items to put in your shoebox. Toys, games, balls soap, washcloths, coloring books, a letter and picture from your family - just no candy, toothpaste, or violent toys. Then drop off your filled shoebox with a $9 donation for shipping internationally.

As in previous years, we're partnering with Chick-fil-A in Morristown for the shoebox drop-off. We'll update you when we've determined a date - so stay tuned!

Is this your first year packing a box?

Family Worship Sunday

On Family Worship Sunday, we take a break from the normal AKids elementary programming, and instead, encourage families with children (ages 4 and up) to enjoy church together. Family Worship Services will be oriented towards adults with the awareness that kids are in the room. In doing this, we hope to provide an environment where kids and adults will hear the same message, participate in the same activities and worship together.
