Colossians 3:9-11

But now, put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator. 11 In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all.

Summary:

This writing from Paul demands a lot, but at the same time is so refreshing. With our busy lifestyles it’s so easy to grow angry when things don’t go our way and cause some unhealthy reactions, Paul clearly states those should no longer be a part of our lives. Why? Because we have been renewed, that’s the best part. We are no longer our self but we have renewed in the image of our creator and that’s something to rejoice about.

Reflection:

What unhealthy lifestyle habits are we still clinging onto? Are we dying to ourselves on a daily basis as the Bible calls us to? Turn that over to Christ and have faith in the renewing of yourself that Christ has given you. Let the old self die.

Prayer:

Jesus I am thankful for your sacrifice on the cross that changed my life forever. Today I pray that you convict my heart of my old habits and unhealthy lifestyle choices and you help me change for the better. I pray you help me put all of that away and walk in the newness you’ve given me.
