12 Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive. 14 Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful.
Paul says compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience: all of these traits are to be expressed in relationships. A lot of our Christian life is found in the relationships we have with the people around us and how we treat those relationships. Above all put on love, love will always fulfill what is required of relationships. That love is an example of the same love Christ showed on the cross for us when he forgave us and bore our sin. Love others as Christ has loved you.
Loving people is hard. It’s part of letting go of your old self, our sinful nature desires unhealthy traits of rudeness, hate, impatience, and pridefulness. Love is not found in any of those traits, hand over to God those unhealthy traits and trade them for what He wants you to have. Christ loved you and chose you because He wanted the best for you, stop holding onto the things that aren’t driven by love. Love is the perfect bond of unity.
Today I choose love, no longer am I driven by the hate that is found so often in this world. Jesus I am so thankful of the love You have given me. Even when I don’t deserve it you continuously pour it out. I pray that with that same love I can go out and pour it into the relationships I have. Not only to bring glory to you but that people may see You through me.
