The Daily5 is a simple guide for daily time with God. Five activities for five minutes each. Start with the short devotional below, then pick four more activities from the listed options. It's ok if you can only do three or four activities! Commit each day to complete at least one of the five.

1 John 2:28-3:3

28 So now, little children, remain in him so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you know this as well: Everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

1 See what great love the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children—and we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it didn’t know him. 2 Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when he appears, we will be like him because we will see him as he is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself just as he is pure.

Summary:

We are children of God. Think about that. Allow every reality you know about parents and children to flood your mind, and this is how the Father sees us. Think about your underlying fears and concerns today. What words would you use to describe how a parent feels about his or her child and how that parent would care for a child because of those feelings?

Prayer:

Father, help me today to not just know in my mind but feel what it means to be your son or daughter.

Reflection:

How would fear and anxiety shrink if you believed what this passage says about the way He loves you?
