9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. 10 As soon as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.”

Mark 1:9-11

Summary:

John the Baptist baptized Jesus to signify the beginning of His earthly ministry. On that day, the Holy Spirit came and filled Jesus to do all the Father had called Him to do, in just the same way He calls us to serve Him! It’s exciting to consider that the Father gives His approval of us as sons and daughters and empowers us to live for Him by filling us with the Spirit.

Reflection:

Can I say I am full of the Spirit? Am I willing to slow down enough to wait on Him to come fill me up today in prayer?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for sending Your Spirit. Fill me today! Help me walk in full approval and full of the Holy Spirit.
