Fasting is not about what we’re giving up. It’s about what we’re gaining that is greater than what we could get if we didn’t give something up. It’s motivated by deep desire for God. It’s the intense pursuit of God - all about ingesting the Word of God, the presence of God, and the blessings of God.
Every few months or so, our creative team meets to figure out how to take a teaching topic that Ben is preparing and wrap it into a sermon series. This is the story of how we developed our series, Very Soon, about the end of the world.
Everyday missionaries don’t just study, learn, and sit around all day reflection on the gospel in a quiet room. They have an urgency to act — living out their faith in real life. It’s vital to transition from mission foundation to mission practice.
The movement of the church began as regular people truly responded to the call from Jesus. One day, every nation will have access to the gospel and the name of Jesus will be known to all. We are all called to do something in order for that day to come. Are you willing to play your part?

Another discipline that helps grow our prayer lives and dependence on God is fasting. The Bible assumes we will abstain from some things - not normal in our day! Though usually this is food, you can fast from anything. As we focus on prayer this week, I encourage you to fast as well.
